From Sunnyside Gardens catalog, 1941: EDNA HICKS—(Gage, 1941), (Shiawassee X Purple Giant). The very large flowers are of fine form with Amparo Purple (pinkish lilac) standards, and Pansy Violet blending to dark purple falls and brown haft. Extra substance, smooth texture, and robust grower and good increaser. The foliage is luxuriant, brignt green and tall. Greatly admired by visitors in my garden. Midseason to late. 34 inch, Slightly fragrant. $5.00. ORIGINAL CATALOG DESCRIPTION.
