From Fairmount Gardens catalog, 1967: ED WATKINS 61-30 A (Arthur Watkins 1966) When this exceptionally beautiful iris bloomed and was seen by many friends and relatives they thought it should be given the name Ed Watkins for this was the name by which he was known throughout the Iris World as a famous and beloved hybridizer. It is a self of great beauty, a rich deep blue with broad flowers with flaring falls that are 3-1/2 inches in width and ruffled on the border. The wide and firmly closed standards have a strong midrib and are the same color as the falls. The beard is blue that deepens toward the center of the flower. A large commanding 8-1/2 inch flower of great beauty. 'Olive's Pride' (Ice Carnival x Land's End) x 'Katherine J. McLain' (Berna Derby x Calypso). 30 in. $25.00
