From AIS Bulletin #165, April 1962. Introducing EARLY DUSK, HC '59, Sdlg. # B-3-57. (co-introduced with originator, Roy Brizendine). This new BLACK TB is notable for its tall well-branched stem and large flowers, but most happily it is a very early bloomer, opening before any other black and with the very first of the TBs. As witness to this, it was in bloom for the New Jersey convention. Net $20.00.; Melrose. |
From Melrose Gardens catalog, 1964: EARLY DUSK (Brizendine) This fluted deep violet to black iris blooms very early in the TB season. It is proving a fine dark for the more temperate areas and is one of the finest blacks on the market. Shimmering velvet finish. NET-10.00. |
