From Mid-America Garden catalog, 2008: CRASH COURSE (Black 08) TB Early-Midseason 33” (84 cm). One definitely needs a Crash Course in genetics to try to understand the diversity created by weaving together pink and blue irises. Crash Course is the quirky result of breeding for blue standards and falls with pink margins and hafts. Medium slate purple standards blend upward to wide, diffuse mauve-tan bands. Styles are brass infused violet. Strongly flared and ruffled falls are blue-lilac blending to wide metallic diamond dusted brass-tan margins. Beards are eerie ochre-gold over a violet base. Vigorous, healthy growth produces stalks with 2 branches plus spur and 7-8 buds. Crash Course should be an interesting parent for all sorts of pink and blue variations with blue beards. Sdlg. M52C: Cameo Appearance X Mythology. $50.00. |
