From 1952 Fairmount Gardens catalog: CORONATION GOLD (H. F. Hall 1952) 40" M.L. The most outstanding deep yellow iris that I have seen. It is a self of rich cadmium orange with exceptionally large smoothly finished flowers of semi-flaring form. The whole effect is a glowing golden orange with no trace of any other color, even the styles and beard are of the same tone. The firm substanced flowers that do not bleach or fade are nicely spaced on strong well branched stalks. Last year this seedling under number Y-97 was declared by many visitors in my garden to be the finest deep yellow of the season. $15.00 |
