'Congo Magic' (Lerton Hooker, R. 1972). Seedling# 8108. TB, 36" (91 cm), Midseason to late bloom. Black self; ruffled falls have velvet texture, no markings; black beard. Seedling# 4531: ('Black Swan' x 'Black Charm') X 'Indigo Imp'. Tell 1973.

It is large, wide and beautifully formed, with excellent substance. Branching is somewhat close and sparse, and it does not always flower on first-year divisions, but it certainly is worth waiting for. #8108. HC '71. Net $25.00. Tell's Garden. |
