COMFORTING THOUGHT (Tompkins 1963) M.VL. 36 in. (Cool Comfort x Limelight). Beautifully formed with wide petaled, heavily ruffled stands and broad flaring falls which are edged with ruffles so precise they appear to be hand made, the beauty of this rich lemony gold and lime chiffon flower is set off by a fat cream beard and is further aided and abetted by daintly laced and crimped edged petals of the heaviest substance and smoothest finish one could imagine. An overall dusting of brilliant Dandelion gilt, highlights these delightful flowers which are carried on strong, well branched, zig-zag type stalks. Showy, a good grower and a sure bloomer, we have enjoyed this one so much that just to think of having it in the garden is truly a comforting thought. We hope it proves so for you, too. No. 60-94. $25.00. Fleur De Lis Gardens catalog, 1963. |
