CHINA FLAME (Framke 1965) E. VL. 44 in. (China Girl x Amethyst Flame). A huge, beautifully formed, heavily ruffled flower of leather-like substance, very broad petals and huge, round, flatly flaring falls. A self between Misty Lilac and Wild Orchid, it has a gleaming silvery overtone that makes it shine out like a beacon. Tall, excellently branched stalks make it a real show stopper, both in the garden and for the show bench. Larger, more ruffled, more flaring and a bit brighter, this is somewhat reminiscent of Rippling Waters and needless to say Mrs. Framke will bloom quite a number of seedlings this year from it crossed both ways. No. 61-48 ….. $20.00. [Fleur de Lis catalog, 1965] |
