From Fairmount Gardens catalog, 1946: CHIEF POKING FIRE (DeForest 1942) M. L. A very different but lovely red that last year impressed me as having great merit. It is a self of deep red that seems to have a bronzy gold infusion throughout. The standards are well domed and firm, the falls of flaring rounded form. A trim neat flower with well branched stalks. Per. R. 87 1945. 35 in. $4.00. |
