1948, Tompkins

'Chansonette' (Chester W. Tompkins; corrects parentage, R. 1948). Seedling# 47-50. TB, 40" (102 cm), Midseason bloom. Color Class-R1, Orchid-pink self. 'Sierra Snow' X Sass seedling# 40-253: 'Snowking' x 'Happy Days'.

NOTE: In the 1949 Alphabetical Iris Check List, the parentage for this iris is incorrectly listed as 'Moonblossom' X 'Lullaby'. The above 'corrects parentage' came from the 1959 Iris Check List.

From Fleur De Lis Gardens catalog 1956: CHANSONETTE (Tomp. 1948) M. 40 in. (Sierra Snow x Sib. to Alba Superba). A large and delightfully formed flower of rich orch1d with a faint touch of lemon at the throat. Strong, beautifully branched stalks. 1.00.
