1955, Sass

'Champagne Velvet' (Henry Sass, R. 1955) Seedling 52-61. TB, 36" (91 cm), Midseason bloom. White and violet. From seedlings involving 'Madame Louis Aureau', 'Bertha Gersdorff', 'Orloff', and 'Aleppo Plain' to 4th generation. Fleur de Lis 1955. Honorable Mention 1958.

From Sass catalog, 1956: CHAMPAGNE VELVET (H. E. Sass, 1955) (52-61)- An addition to the Blended Plicatas. Bluish Gray color predominating. 35 inches. $20.00
From Fleur De Lis catalog, 1956: CHAMPAGNE VELVET (Sass 1955) M. 36 in. (No. 49-100 A sdlg. from a line involving Orloff, Tiffany, Aleppo Plain, M. L. Aureau and Bertha Gersdorff) x 48-443 A sdlg. from Orloff, Tiffany, Aleppo Plain and M. L. Aureau lines). A new plicata that is really tops. The flowers are extra large with extremely broad petals and excellent form and substance. The ground color is of satiny white and the border is very wide and precisely applied in a shade of bright violet. 20.00
