'Caravan' (Chet Tompkins; parentage revised, R. 1945). Seedling# 47-27. TB, 39" (99 cm), Midseason bloom. Deep, bright mahogany-red blended with lighter red. 'Mirabelle' x 'Cape Bon'.

From Fleur De Lis Gardens catalog 1956: CARAVAN (Temp. 1949) M. 38 in. (Mirabelle x Cape Bon). A very large iris of rich mahogany or ox-blood red with a bright undertone of copper. Extra heavy substance and beautiful formed flowers are nicely placed on strong well branched stalks. A sensational Parent. 1.00.
