1979, Gibson

'Can Can Red' (James Gibson, R. 1978). Seedling# 9-5A. TB, 38" (97 cm). Midseason bloom. Standards red-purple (RHS 58A); falls white ground, stitched red-purple (59A); yellow beard. 'Plum Gleam' X seedling# 7-0B: (seedling# 102-6E PCh x 'Wild Ginger'). Gibson 1979.

From AIS Bulletin #232 Winter 1979 Introducing CAN CAN RED (1979). 36", M, #107-4A .. $25.00. An impressive, highly ruffled red-purple flower. The standards are a perfectly formed blend of red-purple. The falls have a rich red-purple rim, developing into a fancy pattern over a pure white ground. Sturdy, tall, well branched, good flower count. It is sure to please you. Gibson Iris Garden.
