From Melrose Gardens catalog, 1968: BURNING COALS (Ben R. Hager '68) 35" Midseason ( (Ali Baba x Glowing Amber) X (Red Shadows x Huntsman). A "Novelty Shoppe" introduction, but more than that it is really a "first" in its color range; a black and red iris. Medium sized flowers have henna red standards and the falls are a solid, smooth black red. The petals are wide and held in the judiciously accepted positions. Branching is excellent. $20.00
