Bluet (Sturtevant, 1918) Rating 72. Color effect a delicate light blue self; size fair; form short to long, open,lrounded; flowering habit free; tall bearded class; height 14 in.; branching fastigiate, high, 3 laterals. A flower of medium substance; frail to firm texture; fair fragrance; good lasting quality. The lighter outer haft emphasizes the delicate color. Useful for clump, mass, cut flowers, and garden. S. pale bluish violet to light lavender-violet, reticulated with olive; carriage cupped, slightly domed, arching; blade obovate-spatulate, notched, undulate, ruffled and frilled, revolute; size 1½ in. wide, 2¼ in. long. F. light violet, lighter at base, veined with same on the lighter outer haft, with a few very light veins extending to the blade; carriage drooping, incurved; wedge-shaped, convex, obcordate; size 1¼ in. wide, 2¼ in. long. Minor parts: beard fine, sparse, white, tipped with orange at base; haft narrow, channeled; reticulations fine, widely spaced; style-branches broad, overarching; crest small, fringed; pollen plentiful; spathe-valves scarious. Growth moderate to vigorous; increase very rapid; habit compact; foliage stiff, leaves broad, glaucous yellow-green; 2 blooms open at once, floriferous; stalk erect, with 8 buds.
