Standards tan, flushed mulberry; falls smoky mulberry outer rim, cream to white signal patch, garnet thumbprints; yellow beard tipped dark brown; ruffled and fluted. From AIS Bulletin #224 Winter 1977 Introducing BEGUILING BEAUTY (1977). TB, M, 39", #31-1A. $25.00. A perfect descendant of SMOKE RINGS, APRIL MELODY and DANCERS VEIL. A most suitable name for this select beauty with its overall charm. The standards and prominent crest are a tannish brown, flushed mulberry blend. The stigmatic lip is a contrasting red-violet. The plicata falls are a broad, highly ruffled, semiflaring type. The color on the lower half is again a smoky mulberry and brown blend, flowing over a yellow ground and ending in a white signal patch. Garnet thumbprints are slightly visible on the sides at the base complimenting the yellow beard. This tall, beautifully branched iris, having 8+ buds, producing extra wide standards and fall, and intensely ruffled, is sure to leave you beguiled. Gibson’s Iris Gardens.
