1985, Black

'Beautiful Surprise' (Paul Black, R. 1984). Seedling# B81-119. TB, 30" (76 cm), Midseason bloom. Standards ecru with lavender blending out from midrib, deeper ecru tan veining to edge; falls blue violet, brownish thumbprints. 1/4" chartreuse ecru edge; pale yellow white beard; ruffled and laced; slight spicy fragrance. P. Dyer seedling# 79-15: (('Bayberry Candle' x 'Bamboo Curtain') x 'Copper Capers') X 'Chartreuse Ruffles'. Mid-America Gardens 1985. High Commendation 1984; Exhibition Certificate 1984; Honorable Mention 1988.
