From Bonnewitz catalog, 1927: AZURE (Bliss). This is a splendid rich purple Iris of medium size, with very much the same color tone as Dominion. This Iris approaches the splendid Rheintraube in color, but it is not quite as good on the landscape as that remarkable variety. A vigorous grower. $0.50
AZURE - Standards lavender blue; falls deep purple-blue; not velvety; stalk low and well-branched, free flowering; growth rampant; 3 ft. Beard yellow; foliage tinged at base. Color referred to Repertoire des Couleurs. [Description of Varieties I. A.I.S. Bulletin No. 6 (Oct. 1922)
