From Sarah Toedt’s Springtime Gardens catalog, 1929: AUTUMN KING is a dependable fall-blooming variety of blue toned lavender. It requires some sand, well drained soil and more lime than the average during a wet season such as we had last fall, otherwise the buds fail to open. The fall blooms of this desirable variety are much superior to the spring blooms and they attract many visitors to the garden.
