'Australis' (Augustino Todaro, 1861, Italy). TB; Late midseason bloom. Color Class-B1L; "Standards pallid blue-violet, slightly more violet, reticulated with red-brown; carriage domed, arching to overarched; blade obovate, notched, undulate, ruffled and frilled, revolute, smooth; size 2 ½ in. wide, 3 ¼ in. long. Falls pale hortense violet to lighter, reticulated with grayish on inner haft; carriage drooping to recurved; wedge-shaped, convex, oval; smooth; size 2 ¼ in. wide, 3 ¼ in. long. Beard coarse, dense, considerably projecting, white, tipped with yellow at base; haft very broad, channeled; reticulations broad, equally spaced; style-branches broad, overarching, bluish; crest large, fringed; pollen plentiful; spathe-valves scarious; Krelage 1876; Pleasant fragrance.
