From Bonnewitz catalog,1923: "AURELLE (Denis).This variety may prove to be one of the best from this famous hybridizer, but it has multiplied so slowly that I will be able to spare only three roots of it this year. I have not seen it in bloom and I do not yet advise its purchase. $10.00"

From Milliken Gardens catalog,1938: "AURELLE (Denis) This iris has become popular in this country. A fine red-purple bicolor with rich velvety falls and a golden beard. The flowers are large and of the popular semi-flaring type. 3-1/2 feet. 50c; 3 for $1.00"
