'Vintage Year' ( O. David Niswonger, R. 1979). Seedling #Sp 23-78. SPU, 40" (102 cm). Midseason bloom. Standards blue-purple; falls purple, yellow signal. 'Proverb' X seedling #Sp 14-72: ( 'Purple Knight' x 'Anacapa'). Cape Iris 1980. Honorable Mention 1982.

| From Cape Iris catalog, 1980: VINTAGE YEAR (Niswonger'80) Sp 23-78: Proverb X Sp4-72: (Purple Knight x Anacapa). Spuria, 40" (102 cm), FV1/DV8-y. This blue purpled beauty is a fine addition to the class of it's parents. It has a bright yellow signal and the fine form is that of Anacapa. The stds. are a lighter color than the falls. Visitors usually make a note of this one. $25.00. Cape Iris. |
