Section Limniris,
Series Ruthenicae, Color Code-B7D; Dark red-toned blue self; Wada 1937; 1938; dwarf form of Iris ruthenica. In The Iris, Brian Mathew notes "The Flora of the USSR separates this as a distinct species, distinguished from
Iris ruthenica by having broader leaves and stems close to the flowers rather than on the lower part of the stem as in
Iris ruthenica."
