From Joe Pye Weed catalog, 2016: I. henryi MINI TREASURE - '16, 5", M, SPEC-henryi (Probst)(CPC3.5.01 .3#8). We are pleased to introduce this iris for Darrell, the first named I. henryi. It was collected in 2001 north of Wanyuan, Sichuan Province, China (elev. 2720') with several other clones of I. henryi. The flowers of most of these clones were a pale chalky lavender. Mini Treasure has a richer color of lavender-blue. I. henryi is delicate in all respects with the finest foliage of the series, 1/8" wide. The foliage is longer than the bloomstalks, however the flowers are well-presented as the foliage is gracefully lax. There are 2 to 3 flowers per stalk. Well mulched plants develop "runners"which allow easier propagation. Bloom in Massachusetts is early to mid-May. Stock is limited (only 1 per order) - potted, $25.00 |
