(Spec) 'Frenier'

1933, Nicholls

'Frenier' (Jesse Nicholls Jr., R. 1933). Series Laevigatae. Late midseason bloom. Color Class-B7L; Described in Nicholls' catalog as "36in. Our largest and strongest growing form of Carolina. Very large pale mauve flowers with pretty golden throat. This was found at Frenier Beach, back among some very rare and picturesque old black palms." 2n=70. Nicholls Jr. 1933; Nic.1933. Iris virginica L.. Royal Iris Gardens 1933.
