(SPEC) 'Flagship'
before 2016, Selector Arnis Seisums
'Flagship' (
Arnis Seisums, unregistered) From The Rare Plants Catalogue "We have also offered this as
Iris graeberiana Flagship, on the assumption that
Iris zenaidae and
Iris graeberiana are the same plant. However there are those who disagree and thus whilst the nomenclature is argued out, we have restored this very distinctive plant to its original name.
A selection from original stock this is a richly coloured, violet-blue clone, with many and big flowers in May. It is the best of some 10 original selections of this species made by Arnis Seisums.
It likes to be in the garden and cold over the winter. Forced plants (and this includes some that you might have seen at major botanical gardens) are short and open their flowers still partly concealed by foliage. When grown harder it is some 40 cm tall at flowering time, with well spaced flowers and it is a very very good plant, well worth giving just what it likes to obtain a spectacular display."
