Section Oncocyclus, Height 10-16" (25-40 cm); M, R9D; Standards pale violet, falls purple veined darker, small blackish signal; beard yellow tipped purple.

Dinsmore provides the following description in Flora of Syria, Palestine, and Sinai, Post, Geo. E., rev. Dinsm. Beirut, 1933; Amer. Col. 1933; "Leaves sheathing two-thirds of stem, slightly falcate, 15 to 20 cm by 1 to 1.5 cm. Spathe inflated 10 X 4 cm. tube 4.5 cm; ovary 2 cm, sulcate. Falls much darker than standards, oblong, 4 x 8 cm, spot small; hairs yellow with purple tips on a cream-colored ground. Standards 6 x 7 cm with purple veins on a rich-purple ground. without dots. Style-branches 2.5 x 5.5 cm strongly keeled, light-brown with tips like the falls-- A very striking flower.May. Mountain sides, endemic to Antilebanon above Bludan, altitude 2000 meters." |
