From Melrose Gardens catalog, 1968: RUBY WINE (Ben R. Hager '68) SIBERIAN IRIS 34" (Towanda Red Flare X Red Emperor. Not a great advance in Siberian Iris but we have found it is easier to transplant and maintain than other varieties in the so called "red" class. The name describes the color other than it is an intense and bright shade not outshown by any of the others. A neat compact flower with round falls and short akimbo standards. The signals are prominently veined over white but are sharply contained. The foliage is not the best. $7.50 |
