1974, Hamblen

'Tawny Tone' (Melba Hamblen, R. 1973) Seedling# M69-28B. SDB, 13" (33 cm). Late midseason bloom. Standards greenish yellow (Nickerson 7.5Y 8/12); falls strong yellow (5Y 7/10) with light olive suffusion; violet beard tipped olive. 'Canary Isle' X 'Gingerbread Man'. Mission Bell 1974. Honorable Mention 1975.

From AIS Bulletin #212 January 1974 Introducing TAWNY TONE 13", M-L. Vivid greenish yellow stands (Nickerson 7.5Y 8/12). Strong yellow falls (near Nick. 5Y 7/10) suffused light olive (5Y 5/6). Wide bushy beard has violet base with hairs tipped olive. Wide ruffled petals. Closed standards. Flaring falls. Two branches, three buds. (Canary Isle X Gingerbread Man). No. M69-28B.
