'Sheldon Butt' (O. David Niswonger, R. 1995). Seedling# SDB 16-92. SDB, 14" (36 cm). Midseason bloom. Citron yellow, slight greenish cast; style arms yellow; beards purple. Seedling# 2-89: ('Chubby Cheeks' x unknown) X unknown -- probably self. Cape Iris 1995.

From AIS Bulletin #297 April 1995 Introducing SHELDON BUTT (Niswonger '95) Sdlg. SDB 16-92: SDB 2-89: (Chubby Cheeks x Unknown) Unknown (Prob. a self). SDB, 14" (36 cm), M. A citron-chartreuse yellow with a shocking purple beard that will call for attention. It is well formed, an easy grower and is fertile both ways. It is named in honor of Sheldon Butt the former outstanding editor of the Medianite. It is thought that Sheldon has won more silver medals in Iris Shows than anyone in the A. Iris Society; namely, 73 silver medals and only 3 bronze medals. He won most of these medals with Siberians and Medians. It is my hope that this iris will come close to the high standards that Sheldon expected of himself and from the many hundreds that he grew. $15.00. Cape Iris.
