'Royal Contrast' (Alta Brown, R. 1961) Seedling# M-140-15. SDB, 14" (36 cm), Early bloom. Deep royal purple self, deeper around white beard. 'Green Spot' X 'Florinda'. Brown's Iris 1962. Honorable Mention 1963.

From AIS Bulletin #165, April 1962. Introducing ROYAL CONTRAST (Brown '62) 14" (Green Spot x Florinda). A standard dwarf of smooth, deep, velvety purple with a contrasting white beard that is wide and heavy. Good shape with wide, horizontal flaring falls and cupped standards. Very bright and striking. $5.00. Brown's Iris Garden.
