1980, Niswonger

'Little Black Belt' (O. David Niswonger, R. 1978). Seedling# 1-77. SDB, 12" (30 cm), Midseason bloom. Very dark purple (black) self; pale blue beard. 'Knockout' X 'Gingerbread Man'. Cape Iris 1980. Honorable Mention 1982; Award of Merit 1984; Cook-Douglas Medal 1987.

From AIS Bulletin #237 April 1980 Introducing LITTLE BLACK BELT (Niswonger'80) SDB 1-77: Knockout X Gingerbreadman, 12" DDNl. This is a dark purple (black) with a pale blue beard that makes a very attractive combination. It's vigorous and a dependable bloomer. It's among the first SDB's to bloom. I think you will like it. $10.00.
