'Eye Of Sauron' ( Paul Black, R. 2009). Seedling M200F. SDB, 14” (36 cm). Late midseason bloom. Standards medium steel violet-blue, paler grey violet edge and veins up midrib; style arms ecru, turquoise veins and midrib; falls medium steel violet-blue, ecru rim, large dark charcoal-plum spot veined wide tan to white 2⁄3 of way out, white dart bisects spot at end of beard; beards orange, white at end; ruffled; pronounced spicy fragrance. 'Meow' sibling. Mid-America 2009. Honorable Mention 2011; Award of Merit 2013.

From Mid-America Garden catalog, 2009: EYE OF SAURON (Black 09) SDB Midseason-Late 14” (36cm. From 'Lord of the Rings' comes the all seeing Eye Of Sauron. It is unique to say the least. Mid steely violet blue standards blend to paler violet gray margins. Similarly colored falls have very round eyes (spots) of dark charcoal plum with greenish cream lightning bolts on each side and wide stripes at ends of orange to white beards. Beautiful round form.
