From Melrose Gardens catalog 1976: CLAP HANDS (Hager '76) 12" Standard Dwarf Sdg. SD2691YP: Marinka X ((Knotty Pine x Grace Note) X Zip). When a breeder has been working for some time to achieve a certain effect in his seedlings and it suddenly appears, and in a form that is wholly acceptable, i.e. form, fiower, etc., his reactions will often be spontaneously ciiched. So "clap hands," "kick up the heels","shout for joy" —it's a wide petaied, lilting little fiower, yellow-ground-brown-marked-plicata Standard Dwarf! — everything just as it had been hoped for. EC'74.
