'Blue Neon' (Paul Black, R. 1989). Seedling 85447B. SDB, 12" (30 cm), Midseason bloom. Standards smoky oyster with orchid cast; smoky buff styles; Falls iridescent red orchid at hafts, blending to orchid and greyed orchid at edge, orchid line from beard; lavender beard tipped blue; pronounced spicy fragrance. Seedling B80-14: ('Antique Satin' x 'Encanto') X 'Roustabout'. Mid-America Iris 1989. Honorable Mention 1992.

From Mid-America Garden catalog, 1989: BLUE NEON - SDB, 12"(30 cm), Midseason. Subtle but vibrant. Standards are smokey oyster with an orchid cast. Falls are iridescent red-orchid around beards blending to greyed orchid edges. Bright blue beards terminate and an orchid line continues on down the fall.
