From Melrose Gardens catalog 1976: APRIL FOOL (Hager '761 12" Standard Dwarf Sdg. SD2691Wi, Sibling to Clap Hands: Marinka X ((Knotty Pine x Grace Note) x Zip). A new and curiously satisfying color pattern from an unlikely cross. The broad petals are buff-amber and over two thirds of the fail areas are deep wine-maroon spots blending to amber edges. Standards are fluted and fails flare. (The introduction of this iris is dedicated to that day on which all Great Fools were born-—me, Barbara Whitehouse, and, without doubt, others who couldn't avoid it—-atleast WE have an excuse!
