1968, Brown

'Red Pixie' (Alta Brown, R. 1967). Seedling #D 722-4. MDB, 5-6" (142 cm). Very early bloom. Color Code-RlDcm. Rose-red self with large dark ruby-red thumbprint on falls; lavender beard. 'Red-Lilli' X 'Albino Doll'. Brown's Iris Garden 1968. Honorable Mention 1969.

  • MDB 'Red Pixie' bloomed at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, in 2017, from about April 28th through May 9th, in a clump that contained about 24 rhizomes. -- HollyJohnson2017 -04-01 - 31 Jul 2017
  • MDB 'Red Pixie' did show Purple Based Foliage at the very base of the leaves on 6/21/2017. Not certain if the PBF is visible before and during bloom, as the plants at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum had been mulched, and there were no visible signs of it in previous photos for the year. -- HollyJohnson2017 -04-01 - 04 Aug 2017
