From Adamgrove catalog, 1997: LA PERLE (Caparne, 1901) Standard Dwarf Bearded. Light yellow standards, yellow falls, and dark yellow beards. Faint veins of green in the falls. One of the old I. lutescens types, its form is tall, even a little ungainly, compared to newer ones. But it has a most distinctive and unusual scent of lily of the valley. LA PERLE reblooms. The 1939 Checklist seems confused over this variety; it listed an extant "dwarf" with a lemon scent, but said the "intermediate" with lily of the valley scent was obsolete. England. $4.00 |
