related links… Botanical Classification A Section within the Subgenus Limniris. Known as the crested Irises these irises represent an artificial group based on a variable character, the crests, which are rather different in different species. They have yet to be divided into more natural groups but recent cladistic analysis has shown that several have more affinity to the bearded Irises. Section Iris while others may well be related to the beardless Irises Section Limniris. The following species are included in the British Species groups Guide to Species; Iris confusa, Iris cristata, Iris formosana, Iris gracillipes; Iris japonica, Iris lacustris. Iris latistyla??, Iris milesii, Iris tectorum, Iris tenuis, Iris wattii.-- BobPries - 2010-02-10
