2023 American Iris Society Hybridizer Medal from the Winter 2024 AIS Bulletin, Volume 105, No. 1, Page 19

Congratulations to Lowell Baumunk of Iris Colorado, Littleton, Colorado for winning the 2023 Hybridizer Medal, awarded by the AIS Board of Directors in November.

Lowell is a retired teacher who has served Region 20 (Colorado) as RVP and newsletter editor. He has also served as president and Yearbook editor of the Aril Society International.

A man of many talents, Lowell is also an award-winning photographer. His art can be viewed at lowellbaumunk.smugmug.com.

Lowell has been an iris hybridizer for more than twenty-five years, working in all the bearded classes plus species and species hybrids. He has introduced more than seventy-five irises, winning forty-five HMs, fifteen AMs and nine Special Medals.
