'Cherry Bounce' ( Irene Nelson, R.1946), 34"; Color Class-R4D. Wild cherry red self with metallic luster. Description from SLI 2006 Check List and AIS 49 Checklist. 'Contrast' X #B-4-12 (Breeder's red). Honorable Mention 1950; DeBaillon Award 1951.

From Sidney Conger Louisiana Iris catalog, 1951: CHERRY BOUNCE. (Nelson, I., '48). H.M., A.I.S., '50; M.S.D. Award, A.I.S., '51. Prof. Nelson's brilliant red is an example of the recent developments among these iris. The deep black cherry red flowers of giganticaerulea form have broad sepals with a velvety sheen and excellent substance. They are brilliant in the sun and seem to prefer a sunny location for growth. One of the few non-fading varieties. 36". $3.50.
