From Samuel Berry catalog, 1927: CACIQUE (1925). Handsome, upstanding fulva hybrid, in, Prune-Purple and Blackish-Purple, on the order of the well-known Dorothea K. Williamson, but with us taller and a more robust grower; warmer but less brilliant coloring; brilliant gold signal patch. $5.00.
From Carl Salbach catalog 1931: Cacique (Berry). A handsome fulva hybrid. Prune-purple to blackish-purple, with bright golden arrows on the falls. Likes moisture and humus in the soil. Reported hardy in the East. $1.00; 3 for $2.00.
