'Sessyu' (
Mototeru Kamo by Currier McEwen, R. 1995) JI (3 F.), 34" (85 cm), Midseason bloom. Standards white, edged reddish violet (RHS 83D); style arms white, tufted; Falls white, brushed soft violet blue (91B), fading with age, signal yellow (7B). Parentage unknown. Introduced in Japan, 1979.

From AIS Bulletin #301 April 1996 Introducing Sessyu (name of ancient painter) (Kamo 1979). Diploid, 3 falls, EM to LM and a continuing bloomer. The round semi-flaring flowers are held on moderately tall clumps. The white standards have purple edging and the white falls are beautifully brushed soft violet-blue. Parents unknown. $15.
