■(JI) 'Oriental Eyes'

1984, Vogt

'Oriental Eyes' (Adolph Vogt, R. 1977) Seedling D12771. JI, 40" (102 cm), Midseason bloom. Light violet (RHS 84A) shading to grey-white at edge; yellow signal (11A) surrounded by purple (82A) halo that extends as veining; dark violet styles with grey edge. 'Oriental Tracery' X Tomino #11. Tranquil Lake Nursery 1984. Honorable Mention 1986; Payne Award 1988, Payne Medal 1993.

'Oriental Eyes' was the first Japanese Iris to be awarded the Payne Medal.
