'Nishiki-Gi' ( Walter Marx, R. 1950 ) Import. JI (double), 42" (107 cm). Midseason bloom. Pearl-white marbled purple and blue. Translation: Brocade Trees. Marx 1950.

NOTE: Original cultivar is 'Nishikigi') by Shuho-En Nursery. Imported, renamed and registered by Marx.

From Marx Gardens catalog, 1955: NISHIKI-GI (Brocade Trees) Each $3.00 Most outstanding of the marbled varieties. The double flowers are pearl white heavily striated and mottled imperial purple and light blue. Deep purple styles. 10 inch bloom which is unusually large for this type. Midseason. Height 3½ feet.
From Tempo Two AU catalog, 1974: NISHIKI GI (Raiser Unknown. Japan) Double. Mid-Late. A very oriental and strange Iris and would look marvellous in a clump beside a pool. Ground color is white with a heavy all-over marbling of light violet, giving a spotted flecked appearance. Causes a lot of comment. 34". $2.50.
