From Marx Gardens catalog, 1958: MIDNIGHT WHISPER (Marx 1957) Each $7.50. A mood of clouded moonlight against a night-blue sky lingers about this large double blue-violet blend. The shading varies from light (near Columbine) blue around the gold signals to a blue near (Campanula) violet on the outer edges of the petals. Delicate white veins radiate from the signals and break through the darker petal color merging with the decidedly paler border all around the rim. The white flat styles, too, show a faint edging of Campanula. The 8-inch flower appears quite flat with just a hint of ruffling. Good substance. 38 inches high. One-way branching. Late. Pictured on page 4.
