■(JI) 'Majestic Mountain'

1957, Marx

'Majestic Mountain' (Walter Marx, R. 1957) JI, 34" (86 cm), Midseason bloom. Light rose-violet self, white blaze, few white veins; rose styles, tipped white. 'Karahashi' X seedling. Marx 1957.

See below:

From Marx Gardens catalog, 1958: MAJESTIC MOUNTAIN (Marx 1957) Each $10.00 Here is an imposing, intensely ruffled flower of majestic bearing that holds its magnificent-sized blooms with easy grace. Intriguing is the decided rose hue in the light rose-violet (near Hepatica) color which is remarkably uniform except for a white blaze beneath each signal patch and a few white rays radiating from each blaze. The petals are unusually wide but of most excellent substance which support the full-bodied appearance of the bloom, fully 10 inches in diameter. 34 inches tall. No branching. A flower for which it seems quite natural to be on top. Pictured on page 3.
