'Japanese Marble' ( Currier McEwen, R. 1994) Sdlg. 85/20. JI (3 F.), 48" (120 cm), Midseason bloom. Standards marbled blue purple (RHS 88A) heavily splashed off-white; Falls same, more heavily splashed, golden yellow (12A) signal. 'Purple Plus' X 80/165: (('Muffled Drums' x unknown) x unknown). Eartheart, Seaways 1994.

From AIS Bulletin #293 April 1994 Introducing JAPANESE MARBLE-Diploid, 3 falls, 40", M-L. This is our favorite with marbled pattern. The 8" flowers are splashed with dark violet and white. Three excellent branches carry up to 8 buds over a very long period of bloom. $35.00. Seaways, Eartheart.
