From Yokohama Nursery catalog, 1909: GEI-SHO-UI: Rich vinous-purple, primrose splotches surrounded by a white halo which radiates out into the purple petals; petaloid stigmas creamy edged and tipped purple. Six petals. Discrepancy of cultivar name spelling between 1939 Check List and catalog.
