1976, Gatty

'Virtue' (Joseph Gatty, R. 1975). Seedling #C60-2. IB, 20" (51 cm). Midseason bloom. Standards near canterbury purple (M&P 43-J-12 to 43-J-11); falls velvety royal purple (43-J-11 to 43-K-11); blue beard, bronze in throat. Sibling to 'Verse'. 'Kharam' X 'Zip'. Keppel, Melrose Gardens 1976. High Commendation 1975; Honorable Mention 1977; Judges' Choice 1978; Award of Merit 1982.

From Melrose Gardens catalog 1976: VIRTUE (Joe Gatty '76) 20" Intermediate bearded Sdg. C60-2: (Dainty Royal x Golden Fair) X Zip. Prim and proper in posture (erect, two branched stems), immaculate and consistent in color (silken standards, velvet falls in two tones of rich violet), decorously tailored with full width petals (domed standards above the horizontal, lightly fluted falls)-it exudes a compelling charm. HC'75. NET 10.00.
